Still standing as a monument to simpler times, the Naples Pier was built as a freight and passenger dock in 1888, at a time when the barely developed city was accessible only by boat. Now it serves as a popular fishing pier and offers knockout views of the Gulf and beaches. Partially rebuilt following a 1922 fire and damage by hurricanes in 1910, 1926 and 1960, the pier remains as a favorite gathering place and a beacon on the Naples coastline.
